Red Bull Project X

Project X – take Shaun White and a huge backcountry half pipe with foam pit, film Shaun going off the charts, put results online! Currently in teaser format but with loads of videos, photos, and snippets of info. Apparently Shaun has really pushed the boundaries of progressive pipe riding in this project – so looking forward to seeing the results. Videos are really cool, also giving behind the scenes footage of how they created it all. Nicely designed too, with each section having parallax animation giving a senstation of depth. Nice transitions and rollovers and so on, all in all a pretty cool site.

HBO Imagine

HBO imagine

Fantastic site promoting HBO and it’s new project, much like the HBO Voyeur, HBO Imagine. Presenting a series of short films all shot from 4 different angles. The mechanism for viewing is a large 3d cube which you drag around to see the 4 different sides. There are several films to explore all through a floaty 3d interface. It is all highly polished with great transitions and animation, love the way you can explore the different videos. All very slick interactivity with interesting films, all directed by Noam Murro, complete a really cool online experience.

Swim Island - Lands' End

Slick site promoting Lands’ End womens swimwear. Some really nice features and attention to detail in this site, all tied together with some colourful visuals. I particularly like the ‘runway’ mode, where you can scroll through all of the swimwear, with nice multi level parallax scrolling, with zooming in and panning – they’ve done a really nice job of it. Lots of cool rollovers and nice typography makes this a fun site use and nice to look at.

Windosill

windosill

Incredible game ‘Windosill’. Featuring several puzzle games that involve you getting your ‘character’ through rooms, each with small interactive games. Amazingly detailed and crafted, you are dropped into a world of 3d objects that you can drag around and play with, everything feels very tactile and interactive. For example you can drag the small part of the ‘i’ in windosill and place it into the small hole in the wall to get to the next room. You can play the first half for free online to complete the game you have to play $3. Really cool…

Goodby, Silverstein & Partners

goodby silverstein partners

New site of  agency Goodby, Silverstein & Partners. Pretty cool site of successful digital agency GS&P, this site is a nice example of an agency portfolio, lately a lot of agencies are opting for the html/blog style – but this is full Flash with videos and slick transitions. I like the main landing page with it’s plethora of videos, the search function is really cool, you can search for say a client name i.e. HP and all the projects featuring HP will be highlighted – this search mechanism also works in other sections of the site such as ‘people’ and ‘news’. The ‘people’ section of the site is actually really cool too. Well coded with lots of cool transitions and animation – worth checking out.

The Realm – Cisco

the realm

Site promoting Cisco System’s security. Desperately trying to make IT security interesting, this site has some pretty nice content… Well polished comic book characters play out scenes in which people’s IT security is in danger… But what I really like about this site is the really nice buttons/rollovers/video players/transitions and so on. The design also feels very fresh and modern with well considered typography and layout – very similar to the Nike.com. But really the attention to detail is quite superb, there is also a lot of content to go through, one of the nicest video players i’ve seen, you just feel that every part of this site has been well crafted and coded. One of the best pieces of Flash work i’ve seen for a while…

Pearl Jam 10

pearl jam 10

Site promoting a re-release of Pearl Jam’s album 10. Featuring a 3d puzzle game, where you have to drag the blocks into the correct place to unlock tracks to listen to. I like the polish of the 3d element, nice lighting and interesting way of interaction, grabbing the blocks and dragging them around, dragging your view around, it all feels quite intuitive.

K Space – K Swiss

By | WEBSITES | No Comments

k swiss k space

Very slick site promoting K Swiss products, asking the questions ‘who wears K Swiss now?’. With 14 celebrities each with short video clips and photos, talking about their lives, similar in format to the recent Nike site featured on this blog. What I like is the production value, nicely shot videos and photos, all in b&w, very slick interaction, and more 3d interfaces! Nice depth perception and depth of field effects on the gallery of the celebrities and their photographs. Nice design and interface, great animation and interactivity which all helps to bring it alive, particularly like the way the camera moves around the scene and the great design.

Freedom & Partners

freedom & partners

New portfolio site of agency Freedom & Partners. Going for the 3D interface design, Freedom have created a very minimal, well crafted portfolio site, highlighting their work in an innovative way. With information presented on the various axis, you can view 3d animations and videos of their work, along with the standard text desciptions, whereby you move your view around by clicking and dragging to see all parts of a project. There is also a non-3d version, which ironically I found harder to use, it’s quite a daring approach to take for an agency portfolio, as the interface is a little clunky and fiddly. Aside from that it’s great to see a different approach, with an original approach to interface design, pretty cool…
