Site of photographer Rod McLean. Slick site, with several nice interactions, animations, with a nice intro and homepage. Really simple, but executed nicely – black backgrounds let the photos stand out, and the smooth transitions that reveal the images make exploring them fun. Nice example of a responsive, photography portfolio.

Site promoting the new Range Rover Sport in the USA. Your mission is to ‘race the sun’, an interactive film, where you can change the gear, choose the right wheel for traction, either using your keyboard or syncing up with a device. Nicely done, with well shot video, and some nice touches. Like that the experience ends on a mini-visualiser allowing you to change the colour and wheels, all in a nice draggable 360 of the car.

Moon

Interesting piece from a collaboration between the Chinese artist Ai Weiwei & Olafur Eliasson. A blank moon, a 3d sphere you can rotate and zoom in/out of – open for everyone to draw upon. Typically these kind of things are curated and censored, but this is open for anyone to do whatever they want. So you can imagine what is there, but there is also little nuggets, drawn by the creators themselves, there are inspiring quotes, nice sketches, and interesting patterns. The drawing part is fun, you claim a spot and can draw easily – all a bit of fun. Interesting to see what people but up – representing a wide international spectrum of people. Described in the ‘about’ section – “Leave your fingerprint and see the shared moon grow as others reach out too. Let’s show the world that together our marks matter. Creativity defies boundaries.”

Nice little promo for a game available on the app store. Physics based, multiplayer, drag and drop game – using a bizarre multi coloured character! Click on the box to connect it to the character, and drag around to carry the box to open a trap door. Really intuitive and fun to play around with.

The Chase 360

Site promoting Volvo Trucks, and their proposition that their trucks are agile and quick in challenging built up scenarios – all shown through being chased by bulls in the Spanish town of Ciudad Rodrigo. Your view starts from the back of the Volvo truck and you can click and drag the camera around to pan your view around the scene. Swapping cameras is on the right side of the screen where you can change out your view and even see a map of the town and the route. The stats are quite incredible, some 28 cameras and 250 film crew, the detail is amazing. Even for a new car launch this would be incredible, but to promote a truck makes it even more remarkable – really nice.

Promotional site for new TV show ‘Almost Human’ a cop show set in the future. Featuring a ‘realistic’ look at the ‘MX’ model of the cybernetic cop. Love all of the little details, such as the animated movie hotspots and the nice page navigation. Cool little info-graphics and little interactive touches and things to explore. Really like the layout and although it’s another example of scrolling page design – it’s a really good one!
