Site of Brazilian designer Márcio Ribeiro. Love the horizontal type driven homepage, click through to the project details. Project pages are minimal and visual led with subtle transitions to bring in the details. Nice bold about section, with some subtle creative coding.
Campaign site for HP and their campaign ‘Magic Words’, a documentary that tells stories of illiterate people in Brazil and how HP’s new technology translates voice to print. Nice companion site that houses the documentary and showcases some of the characters who spoke for the book. Nicely designed, with some good interactive flourishes such as the gallery of speakers and the animated logo.
Slick portfolio of Brazilian Art Director and Designer Andre Do Amaral. Love the homepage with large bold typography and simple vertically scrolling carousel – click on a project and it transitions to full screen. Feels like a slick well crafted experience, which explains the projects in a very visual way – lots of nice transitions. Lots of very high quality work in there, and all wrapped up in this responsive, slick, and elegant portfolio.
Simple site mapping the origins and usage of words across the world. Simple premise enter a word and the site will – using Google Translate – track the use of the word and translate in across the world. I like the way it tracks the words and actually speaks them as your travels all over the world. When it stops lines represent the origin of the word and clicking on them reveal how to speak the word in that country. Nice bit of fun and something a bit different.
Site promoting the Citroen DS5 car in Brazil. Full of really nice video content, photos brought to life through slick transitions and animations. Feeling more like a Flash site from the old days – with all the slick animations and transitions – but all in HTML.
Lovely campaign site for the new Citroen DS4 in Brazil. One of the richest non-Flash sites i’ve seen for a long long time, videos, dynamic masking, fantastic rollover effects, lovely use of scroll and interactivity. It also looks great, with nice photographs and video assets, and well considered design and typography. Really like the homepage and the innovative menu – a real exercise in cutting edge design for non-Flash sites.
Site of Izaias Caualcanti & Anderson Barros – developers / designers from Brazil, this is their portfolio site. Nicely designed with big typography and mask reveal transitions. Little bit of confusing UE design, but it is fun to navigate and from a layout perspective very cool.
Interactive musical experiment site promoting Evoke’s Zegon Sunglasses. A large sequencer plays samples, you interact by clicking and dragging shapes – sadly the site is quite hard to navigate / understand. However, there are lots of cool animations and interesting transitions – click to drag through images of specific frames – images zoom out and react to mouse position. Nice layout and minimal design, pretty cool.
Brazilian site for the new Citroen DS3. Very slick Flash site full of transitions, effects, and nice animations – also looks amazing – nice to see a really slick looking car site again. You can customise a DS3 – basically colour, graphics and so on – I like the transitions between the sections too. Nice full screen video and so on – pretty cool stuff – love the art direction too…

Mexican site promoting Rexona and it’s range of deoderants for men. With each product featuring a 3d scene personifying that product – really cool 3d parallax – with an option to see it with 3d glasses too. Not much more than that – but the effect is really great and the rest of the animation, transitions and so on are spot on very nicely made.
Promoting IBM’s ‘power 7’ systems in South America, by means of an explorable technology lab. Lots of little interactive experiments – all via a first person 3D interface – the best I have yet seen. Really nice look and feel, great interactivity all wrapped up in a simple interface!

Clean, slick, and simple website of Brazilian Creative Director Taua Baccarin. Showcasing his best work in a nicely laid out grid, highlighted by the smooth animation that really brings it all to life. The work is presented nicely in a sideways scrolling contact sheet style. Great combination of nice layout and great animation – good example of portfolio site.
Website of the A/W Collection of Brazilian label of Santa Lolla. Slick animation provides the basis of this site, fast smooth transitions reveal the collection. Using a slideshow function you can sit back and watch, moving the mouse around scrolls the image, a little ‘sand timer’ displaying when the next image will appear is a touch. The thumbnail menu also works really nicely along with the main image, you scroll by mving your mouse up and down. Lots of attention to detail and cool transitions, nicely polished.
