Another great Absolut microsite, promoting the visions of ‘an Absolut world’. Each vision can be opened up – the box unfolds -and shows a 3D animated vision. It provides a really nice user experience, and you can even upload your own. Really like the way the boxes open and reveal their contents – really cool. Lots more info here.

Really cool website for The Vacuum Design. You float around their portfolio in 3D, demonstrating their style of work. There are some really great sites and motion design showcased here. A great 3D website where the form really adds to the design – nice concept and nice design.
Wow, incredible site for Red Bull promoting the Flugtag – an international event where people create flying contraptions and run off a large ramp into a lake! This is the interactive equivalent. You can design your own plane, edit other peoples, or use templates – you can paint it, choose what material the parts are made of and so on. You then enter the flying arena where you take your design to the skies and perform tricks and try and get a high score.
The attention to detail is incredible, created by Less Rain, as they write in their blog: “Flight Lab gives you the real thing: It’s a 6DOF (degrees of freedom) flight simulator modeled by a physics engine in 3D using rigid body dynamics. Real airplane wings can be described by specific lift and drag coefficients, depending on how quickly and from which angle the air flows over a wing section. That’s what Flight Lab does.” Some great ‘making ofs’ can be found on their blog, part 1, part 2. Just a really amazing, ground breaking site, made in Papervision that really couples great design, usability and latest technology. I love the art direction and the concept has been well thought out and executed, really impressive!
Real slick site, promoting the Nike Air Jordan XX3 basketball shoe. Really nice example of first person perspective 3D navigation – as 3D penetrates the latest websites we see it in the style of ‘Doom’! Apart from that its just a good looking, well performing microsite.

Website of Whitevoid Art & Design, an agency that specialises in various interactive disciplines. A really clean, fluid 3d interface; very simple and enjoyable to use. I really like the concept – and feel its a really nice use of 3d – kept simple and to the point.
Nice way of showcasing short films and installations. Showing 20 works from the last 20 years of Coventry School of Art and Design’s New Media Arts MA. Using Papervision 3D to allow the use to explore the material in an interesting way. Effective and fun site.

Nice slick website, promoting the Nike Jordan Melo M4 basketball trainer! Really smart art direction and great execution. A quasi 3D environment you can pan around the environment and view videos and see the shoe, download stuff and so on. Its a just a great experiential site, involving you and encouraging you to explore the website, really slick – I really like the simple & effective navigation, rollovers, it just so easy to use.

Amazing site – powered by Papervision 3D – again!! Promoting the new Canon EOS 400D camera.
Really lovely style of interaction – you pan around and explore 3 different scenes each with interlocking pictures which move around in a 3D environment. This has got to be my favourite example of Papervision so far, the execution is really accomplished.

Japanese Sony Walkman promotional site, using Papervision 3D to provide an enjoyable visual and audio feast! Explore faces mapped to 3D objects that dance in time to music, see them displayed in landscapes and mapped to various different shapes. An extremely well executed and fun Flash site, its so great to see experiential sites like this, just good fun and promoting a positive image for the Sony Walkman.

Another great example of a site integrating Papervision 3D, this is one of the best showcases of it I have seen to date. A globe highlighting ‘sweetspots’, i.e. a cool snowboarding area, is the main navigation – very easy to manipulate & use. The attention to detail and overall design & polish is really spot on, i.e. the motion blur whilst rotating, and lovely transitions.

Winner of the Flashforward2007 Boston Film Festival in the Typography category – again it’s been around for a while. But it is really well executed, not just down to the typography – but also in terms of navigation and style. Using 3D esque parallax navigation it is a joy to use and at times jaw dropping. It remains simple and easy to use but also the animation and transitions are amazing.
Very nice and appropriate use of Papervision 3D! A kind of parallax environment which is cool to use. The rest of the site is pretty nice too, good use of Flash for a agency portfolio website…
Based on ‘Lines’ ad promoting the new Audi A5, you make your own ‘Rhythm of Lines’. That is draw lines in a 3D space using the keyboard and mouse – it kinda works like flying through an empty 3D space. You end up with a very organic flow of coloured lines, once you get used to it you can get some nice results.

Nice site – I like the kind of ethereal direction and lack of advertising – its quite involving and making your own design is enjoyable its a good way of promoting a concept online that ties in nicely with the ATL ad.
