Thomas Schmidt photo

Nice and simple site of photographer Thomas Schmidt. Really like the full screen photographs that sit side by side that you just slide through by clicking the arrows or by using your arrow keys. Divided into 3 main categories the menu is kept very simple and with a nice touch it is on a ‘difference’ blend mode so is always visible. I like the way when you reach the end of the portfolio it zooms all the way to the beginning again…

Soft Whiteroom

soft white room

Portfolio of Swedish agency Soft. Another 3d portfolio, but this one is also pretty cool, with a good parallax and feeling of depth, with elemtents of the design on different layers, and the mouse controlling your viewing angle. Nicely designed and good attention to detail which livens up the archetypal ‘portfolio’ site, pretty cool…

+1 Music

plus1 music

Very simple site of +1 Music, who create special events to promote artists. Nice way of navigating, you can scroll all over, by clicking on work the respective section opens up and places all the information on screen, leaving you to scroll around at will, zooming in/out of videos and photos. Cool interaction and interface design, simple, effective and to the point.

Reserved: Adventures of the Stardust Girl

By | WEBSITES | No Comments

reserved

Site promoting Polish label Reserved. Resembling an interactive print ad, a sequence of nicely shot video and photos show off the latest clothing line. Laid out much like a magazine, when you click on a photo, it goes fullscreen, on a video it takes you to the next ‘scene’, this all provides a cool montage. There are other options from the menu, to see the collection, which again is laid out in a similar way.  Very simple interface, with nice visuals and a gentle style of animation and quite an intriguing story…

Armani Jeans

armani jeans

Interesting new site of Armani Jeans. Presented in a very cool way – from a first person perspective, you are given a 360 degree view as you run around with models wearing Armani Jeans clothing, with the action stopping at intervals so you can view the products and view the catalogue and so on. What I like is the way the ‘video’ is presented with you being able to look around as your view and the actors move through the environment. It’s a very simple site with an interesting way to show the product line ‘in situ’, with a very cool interface, very clever.

Nossa

nossa

Fantastic site of Portugese agency Nossa. The attention to detail and polish in this site has really got to be experienced to be believed, really incredible. For example when you look at their work, each case happens to be part of fully interactive physics engine. Look at their location, Google maps is fully integrated into the interface. All the rollovers / buttons / user actions are thought about, the whole site is well laid out and designed, it really is a shining example of a great portfolio site… very impressive…

Space Is The Limit

space is the limit

Cool site from Hyper Island with the idea to send messages you submit into space via the Swedish Space Corporation, essentially to promote Hyper Island and it’s Interactive Art Director students. Nice 3D interface with messages floating around from users, you pan around the environment, cool background music, nice layout and design. Like the way the camera moves around with the mouse. Simple, clean, looks cool…

Milk Matters

milk matters

Really cool brand site for milk brand Cravendale. Like the previous incarnation this site is also highly interactive and fun, in this edition all navigational elements are interactive and can picked up and thrown around, all with realistic physics. Small hand drawn characters come on stage and add a humorous touch to things, these can also be picked up and chucked around! I particularly like the ‘why cravendale’ section where a projector playing a video can also be thrown around with projected video distorting and so on, the shadows on the picked objects are really great too. Lots of nice touches and attention to detail with really excellent Flash execution!

NAWLZ

nawlz

Really incredible interactive comic book, set in the future world of NAWLZ, described as ‘an experiment in interactive story-telling.’, it really is quite great (to experience it best you really need your speakers / headphones on). Basically an interactive story set alongside animation and sound design, which is all combined to make an immersive experience. The level of detail is amazing, everything has a multitude of layers and really great illustration…

But what really makes it great is the way it works, you choose to progress the story, along with it comes the animation and the great sound design, together with all so much detail. It all really feels very fresh but also a hawk back to ‘good old days’ of experimentation, new design and progression, reminds me a lot of the earlier Hi-Res! days. Totally awesome…

Nokia E71 – Beautiful Connections

By | WEBSITES | No Comments

nokia e71

Very simple site that promotes Nokia’s E71 phone and the concept ‘Beautiful Connections’. Four short films were commissioned with the artists, Universal Everything, Carl Burgess, field, and SHFT; they all explore beautiful connections which are very stunning. It’s all very minimal and clean, and all a great excuse to commission some great visual artists…

Iceman

By | WEBSITES | No Comments

Website of Iceman denim of Denmark. What makes this different is the mechanism of viewing the products in the collection, it’s in 3D and and you can tilt/move your view – to see the next image you grab and ‘flip’ the photo – viola the image flips and the next one flips into view. It works really nicely and feels quite tactile, apart form that it is executed nicely with nice animations and video.

Photographer’s Senol Zorlu portfolio site. Yes another photography site, this one is really nice too! What I like about this example is the fact you can comment on each photograph. And the usual really slick transitions between the photographs, the full screen scrolling and so on. Another nice example…

Final Art New Media

By | WEBSITES | No Comments

Portfolio site of Polish agency Final Art New Media. Interesting way of showing work, again a 3D interface where you find yourself inside and amongst the work, where you can view stills / watch videos of their work. Each category are in different stacks of images which you float between to see the different categories, which gives the site a nice depth and fun interactivity.
