Lovely site for Adult Swim and a collection of singles from 2016. The music triggers a 3D visualisation customised for that tune, love how the background colours transition and the way each visualisation changes. Lovely design and polished interactivity, works great on mobile too, really fun and playful way of exploring a range of music.

Gorgeous site for famous Spanish architects Ortiz Leon. Beautiful photography paired lovely type and interactivity. Love the seamless transitions, to the level of interactivity and detail on the project pages. So much detail, for example on the case study pages – the carousel arrows have a small timer that rotates around the circle to auto cycle, each image also appears in a slightly different size – keeps it interesting and looks great. Love the grid style overlays and boxes that brings the theme to life.

Fantastic 3D customizer to allow people to customize a range of Ford Mustangs. Love the detail and fidelity of the experience, from the amazing 3D model that renders wonderfully in browser that you can rotate and view from any angle. Love the way they have integrated the hotspots to allow you change options on the range of equipment and features. Taking cues from video games – and integrating slick transitions – makes for a playful and fantastically polished experience.

Site documenting various people who live in Tokyo, their lives, and their tips & recommendations for the city. In their own words “a community driven initiative that seeks to establish the modern Tokyojin. We aim to authentically and organically capture, document, and communicate Tokyo’s unique urban culture through the insight and experience of the very people that shape it while redefining what it means to call Tokyo home.” Interesting form of storytelling through in depth journeys. Lovely photography and design, love the blend of inline video and sprinkles of Google Maps that bring the stories to life. Nice transitions and art direction tie it all together to create a compelling experience.

Paper Planes

Lovely site for those at the 2016 Google I/O, as a way for people to spend some time and interact with the large screens in the intervals. The lovely thing about it is the mechanic and the way it worked on mobile, you would create a plane, place a geo-located stamp, fold it up, rotate your phone to landscape and imitate throwing a plane – the phone would vibrate and a little ‘swoosh’ noise would play. Once launched you could then catch other planes with a net, again moving around your phone like a net to capture a plane, once you caught one – you could again unfold it and add your stamp, and again launch it back out. Such a simple, but beautifully executed & crafted experience, using all the features of your phone to create a truly mobile first experience.
