DuJour

By | WEBSITES | No Comments

Brilliant site for DuJour magazine, a minimal fashion spread. Great use of typography and photography – a real attempt to get that magazine feel on a site – each article has an overview as you scroll down, allowing you to quickly see the photos and read a snippet – when you explore an article the item spreads out to reveal more content. Love the sticky side navigation so it is always accessible – contents and main nav, contents is really useful for such a long site. Works well on tablet too, really modern fresh site which looks and acts great.

MoMA – Cindy Sherman

By | WEBSITES | No Comments

Nice site promoting Cindy Sherman’s photography at MoMA. Nice simple, well designed, and well crafted photography site. Love all the attention to detail, the sliders, I like the depth of field look on non-selected projects. Many characteristics common with Flash, however it is not – nice transitions and effects too. Really nice site!

Sidsel Marie Bøg

By | WEBSITES | No Comments

Beautiful site for the Danish Hair & Makeup artist Sidsel Marie Bøg. Featuring a fresh and crisp layout and navigation I haven’t seen before. Nice slideshow fullscreen imagery fills the background, love the rollovers on the sections, where images appear for that section. The section where you view the images utilises a really nice scrolling system. Overall a stunning site that really shows how to showcase a great creative portfolio of imagery. Fantastic…

Androp – Bright Siren

By | WEBSITES | No Comments

Music video from Japanese band Androp. Using 250 Canon EOS DSLR cameras to take photos as they band performs their song ‘Bright Siren’. The flash units all fire off synchronised to make swooping patterns and effects – the resulting images stream across the bottom of the screen as the video plays. Love the way the images appear on the bottom – could be more interactive but the result looks great. Another cool music video which works on and off the web.

Harry Vorsteher

By | WEBSITES | No Comments

Portfolio of Harry Vorsteher German photographer. Nice minimal interface allow you to explore his photography either by dragging a circular wheel or by clicking, nice full screen images and panning. Like the way each image has a background to fit the image, going back blurs the image making a nice backdrop for the menu – makes it more dynamic. Nice photography portfolio in a well designed site.

However you look at it, it is beautifully crafted site – when you zoom in to an image it is separated and animated into different depths  really stunning. Featuring photography by Greg Williams, Nick & Chloe, and Pierre & Gilles. The transitions and attention to detail are excellent, well realised.

Matko Stankovic

By | WEBSITES | No Comments

Portfolio of Croatian photographer Matko Stankovic. Interesting navigation, presented with a contact strip of thumbnails which show the full image, with the backdrop a blurred version of the original – providing a nice palette of colours for the background. Nicely designed, laid out, and developed.

Le-Joy

By | WEBSITES | No Comments

Very cool site of photographer & art director Jaoa Sousa. Set within a grid of labelled projects, the preloading itself is very cool, is a sea of work Le-Joy has created. Rolling over each thumbnail instantly displays that project and changes the thumbnail to navigation buttons, keeping your mouse still for a few seconds hides all the navigation and grid. When each image appears it is mapped to a 3d surface and animates nicely into view. A superb, stylish portfolio of really nice work, different but familiar, really cool…
