Short and sweet promo for Air BnB showing a globe with all the Air BnB activity going on today. Love the 3d globe with lots of nice little animations of people checking in, snippets about certain locations, and geo located tweets with their #OneLessStranger tag. Nice little branding piece that just highlights how global Air BnB is – it looks nice and matches the style of the newly rebranded Air BnB.

Interesting approach for Land Rover USA, an interactive story written by author William Boyd. Featuring a montage of audio and visuals, telling the story of a man in his 30s given a mysterious chance job to drive a Land Rover to Scotland. Some nice basic interactivity and nicely put together to provide a compelling story – relying on the audience’s captivation the story is divided into 8 parts. A bold approach to interactive storytelling which works nicely.

Site for Rosewater, a film about BBC documentary maker. Nicely designed with full screen video background and typographic overlays – offering insight into the film and the characters. Really nice transitions and text effects that bring a touch of movement and dynamism to the layout. I like the background music and the typographic heavy approach, the short clips and details for each theme works well too. Another lovely site from Watson D/G.

Site promoting ‘Mocking Jay’ the latest film in the Hunger Games film/book saga. Hooking up your phone to the browser you can play some small puzzles on your phone to ‘hack’ content – games that uses your phones tilt and motion sensors – really nicely synchronised. You unlock key sections of content to reveal a larger picture of what the film is all about. Lovely glitch effects and again lovely design by Watson D/G, nice typography and futuristic look and feel. Nice bit of fun…

Nice refresh of the The Great Discontent website, a magazine about creativity, entrepreneurship, and risk taking. The online version is a beautifully laid out variant of the printed magazine, with lovely typography and nice photography. Nicely considered for the screen, with nice big copy for reading the interviews and the pull out quotes – nicely structured too, easy to find other articles and browse around. And it is responsive too, nicely done…

Fascinating interactive documentary about the ISEE-3 satellite that has been in orbit since 1978. Featuring a mixture of 3d elements, film, and photography it’s a really nice approach to show the orbit and history of the satellite. There is also a live view, where you can see estimates of where the satellite is today – all shown in 3d. Love the timeline approach and the fascinating way of representing the orbit of the satellite, where it has been all in a 3d model that you can explore – nice mix of media to explain the satellite and it’s history.

Gorgeous site highlighting R+Co beauty and hair products. Love the layout, more akin to a fashion magazine – nice ever changing accent colour – and the offset titles and copy. The bold typography really accentuates the beautiful photography and fun layout. I love the ‘lookbook’ pages that show you all the products needed and styling tips – it looks fantastic, and all the subtle parallax style transitions gives the flat design some depth. Really nice looking site.

Promoting Benjamin Moore paints in the US, this room designer allows you to customise imaginary rooms – created by a short test. Asking you to answer a short series of questions, based on your interests – short interactive questions – dragging a slider to show your perfect view and so on. Your answers drive the results of the rooms – and show you the swatches necessary to paint the rooms for real. It is brought to life with lots of animations and transitions – all wrapped up in as minimal as possible interface – all in all it works well and looks great.

Fascinating site created as a side project by Anand Sharma – it tracks his daily movements and visualises it in an interesting way. Using an array of APIs and custom code, a whole host of data is recorded, how much he ran, how many climbs he’s done, how far he’s walked, his heart rate and so on. Using the API from apps such as Moves, Foursquare, Nike+ etc – the interesting part is how the data is organised and visualised. ‘Sport’ focusses on the data such as heart rate, running, walking and so on – where as ‘Explorer’ highlights movements day to day, along with location check ins, photos and so on – the detail is quite incredible. The case study in his blog is worth a read too – really interesting to see the approach and decisions he made along the way. Not only is the visualisation and organisation of the data great, so too is the design, and the finishing touches such as the animation and the transitions – they just bring it all to life.

Lovely site of band J.Roddy Walston & The Business, and their song “Same Days” – this is their interactive music video. Love the build up of video and the way the interactive element – dragging around – mimics the video itself to create a kind of illusion. Very simple, but beautifully done, short and sweet.

Nice video experience running through the key features of the new Lincoln MKC. Set from a first person perspective you join your friend in a chase to find a missing wallet – conveniently using all the new features of the car! Nicely done, you can pan around your viewpoint – to look around the scene – makes for a more immersive experience. The key features are pulled out, and demonstrated in the film, you can pause and find out more in a non-obtrusive way. Overall a really nice example of using video & a story to bring a car to life.

Nice site for Nike, and their philosophy of their natural motion range of trainers. Taking inspiration from the shoes themselves, the site is flexible and dynamic, love that you can drag around the blocks of copy, video, and imagery. Lots of detail in the content too – giving a insight into the design philosophy – again which is mirrored by the interface. It is also responsive, which is great to see too. Nice to see something like this which is a bit different, looks good, with a nice visual/interactive concept behind it.
