The Wilderness Downtown

By | WEBSITES | No Comments

Interactive music video using the latest HTML 5 effects. Another great interactive music video for ‘The Wilderness Downtown’ by Arcade Fire, which also acts as a showcase for Google’s browser Chrome. You enter your home town on the start screen and the music video plays whilst pop-up windows open displaying streetview and google maps follwing the running character in the music video – all as if the character is actually there in the scene. New events happen as the music plays all in time with the music. An interesting way to show a video and involve the audience into the emotional side of the song – all digitally – very creative.

Dark Night Of The Soul

By | WEBSITES | No Comments

Beautiful website promoting the release of an album collaboration of Dangermouse, Sparklehorse, and David Lynch. Set in a dark 3d world, where exploration is the key, a card pop up interface unfolds before you. By dragging parts of the cardboard world you reveal content, new imagery, video, and sounds from the album. I love the way you explore, clicking and dragging forwards zooms in/out, and dragging left / right pans around. The lighting also changes with the depth of your viewpoint, and it changes on the cardboard pieces that you drag around – really incredible attention to detail. The feeling of depth is incredible, giving a great sense of ambience and setting a fascinating scene. The setting is fantastic, it works like a charm, and it looks stunning, really refreshing work…

Shihad – Sleepeater

By | WEBSITES | No Comments

Really cool interactive music video from Shihad with their latest single. 100 Shihad fans were invited to take part in a music video, and were filmed in slow motion whilst being ‘tortured’. The results are a wall of individual videos which you can watch and interact with. Beautifully shot and fun to watch, very stylish with black and white. I love the way the video flips from silhoutte to detail, white and then reverse, you find yourself watching it again and again!

FPM

By | WEBSITES | No Comments

Awesome album teaser site for FPM (Fantastic Plastic Machine). Incredibly simple, and incredibly cool. With the track listing, when you preview one of the tracks the music then affects the track name, making it jump around in time to the music, the site then becomes alive – really nice idea. So minimal but brought to life by the music, that contrast is what makes this site so fun, effective, and cool!

Find Your Tracks

By | WEBSITES | No Comments

find your tracks

Site allowing you to find music to go along with your production. A very very simple site but very well structured, slick and easy to use, essentially you select tags for the type of music you are looking for and mix match them to get music matching your selection – which you can then download. Lots of cool animation and slick rollovers and usual it looks very much like a Soleil Noir production, slick and simple.

The Sound of RockCorps

By | WEBSITES | No Comments

The Sound of RockCorps

Interesting site from Orange, which allows you to create remixes of popular songs using your own voice and also encourages collaboration with your friends. Inviting you to record various sounds for different notes, you can also connect through Facebook and invite contacts to also record different notes. It then works by playing these notes in a sequence to a pre defined pattern to make songs, so far only a couple are there. A really funny idea, in the end encouraging you to join the Orange RockCorps collective to do community charity work. The site also looks great, with nice 3d transitions, great look and feel,  lots of detail and also highly polished!

Emilie Simon

By | WEBSITES | No Comments

emilie simon

A set of interactive music videos for French singer Emilie Simon. Very similar to the Arcade Fire interactive video which was also shot by the same director – Vincent Morriset. Each video has some simple interactivity which changes your experience of the music video, for example, in the Rocket to the Moon video you can change the playback of the video by clicking on the clock in the video, in the Chinatown video by clicking around coloured smoke goes in the direction of your cursor.

fat freddys drop tv

Video site of band Fat Freddys Drop. Very simple site allowing you to view videos and compose sequences from the clips dropped onto the table. I really like the polish of the site, it looks great and there is a nice attention to detail, in particular the rollovers on the videos and dragging action…

Zoogami Beer

By | WEBSITES | No Comments

zoogami beer
Interesting site promoting the launch of new beer Zoogami. Based around the idea of  ‘contemporary’, the site acts as a mash up of digital media – video, sound, and images all related to a search term that you provide. In the end you get a sequence of images, videos, and music given a treatment with colours, with it all moving in time with the music. It gets images from the web, sound/music from YouTube and video from Google Video. There is a gallery of saved searches, and even a Facebook Application. Sadly they all end with the same treatment, also it takes an extremely long time to load, and when there isn’t enough content it always uses the same images from some image resource – so after 2 times of making a new sequence you see a lot of the same things. Interesting idea, nice to see a brand experimenting with ‘contemporary’ digital ideas…

Presented alongside a nice atmospheric soundtrack we our view moves around amazing photographs of New York – all taken from above. I like the way you can drag your view around, combined with really amazing in depth photography it really feels as though you are there – having a big monitor helps!

Pearl Jam 10

pearl jam 10

Site promoting a re-release of Pearl Jam’s album 10. Featuring a 3d puzzle game, where you have to drag the blocks into the correct place to unlock tracks to listen to. I like the polish of the 3d element, nice lighting and interesting way of interaction, grabbing the blocks and dragging them around, dragging your view around, it all feels quite intuitive.
