Site for Tank magazine, UK independant quarterly on contemporary culture, design, art and so on. Love the 3D panels showing the latest issues content outline – some interesting interaction, where the entire paragraph splits and reveals imagery. Minimal design makes a nice juxtaposition with the content and imagery from the magazine.

Site for German digital agency Humans & Machines. Elegant and minimal site for a body of work spanning identity to app design. Lots of nice transitions from section to section, with gorgeous seamless animations – that give a feel of polish and simplicity. The case studies for each of the projects are well considered and include inline videos, animations, and wireframes even to describe their process and pull out the nice features. Such a lovely, modern and fresh experience.

Fantastic portfolio of Martin Wecke, designer & coder based in Berlin. Love the mechanic of iframed sites that sit to the left – showing the work in-situ – appearing as you scroll down the page. Minimal and elegant mix of inline sites and imagery letting the work speak for itself. Love the rotating ‘chart’ mapping individual project to types of work – very cool and interactive. Lovely, modern and fresh innovative portfolio.

Love the scrolling mechanic that scrolls the ‘pages’ of content whilst the rest of the site is sticky – fun and quirky, gets the across the simplicity through its execution.

Paper Planes

Lovely site for those at the 2016 Google I/O, as a way for people to spend some time and interact with the large screens in the intervals. The lovely thing about it is the mechanic and the way it worked on mobile, you would create a plane, place a geo-located stamp, fold it up, rotate your phone to landscape and imitate throwing a plane – the phone would vibrate and a little ‘swoosh’ noise would play. Once launched you could then catch other planes with a net, again moving around your phone like a net to capture a plane, once you caught one – you could again unfold it and add your stamp, and again launch it back out. Such a simple, but beautifully executed & crafted experience, using all the features of your phone to create a truly mobile first experience.
