Lexus RX

By | @brandstudio, WEBSITES | No Comments

Another great Russian Lexus microsite. Featuring the ever popular parallax vertical scroll layout – really like the gaps between the sections and the interactivity in some of the sections – such as changing the wheel or the car moving with your mouse cursor position – lots of little elements of delight. The sliding menu on the right panel is intuitive and works well – although always scrolling downwards can be a bit disorientating. Design is great, slick, elegant and simple makes the car visuals pop out, really nice well considered site with lots of cool interactivity.

Chrome Experiment #500

By | @google | No Comments

500 of the best Chrome experiments – a mixture of the latest WebGL / CSS3 / Javascript experiments. Love the interface – a swirling mass of shapes colour coded by subject, for example 3d, physics, and so on – which by itself is fun to play with. Rolling over the dots gives more info about that project, clicking through will take you to the example. Clean, clear, fun – what more could you want – loads of great experiments to discover.

Dubfire

Site of musical outfit Dubfire. Featuring an explorable semi-3d interface with cubes revealing news items, tour details and so on. Loads of cool interface design, animations and transitions bring the whole minimal design to life – especially the feeling of depth, amplified when you use flat colours. Really well crafted site, looks modern and clean – animations super slick tie it all together. Really nice…

Christian Mezöfi

By | @ChristianMezofi, WEBSITES | No Comments

Slick and elegant portfolio of Christian Mezöfi art director and designer. Really minimal layout highlighting visually the range of projects he has worked on. Love the way when changing between projects the layout slides down to visually and mentally see the transition to a new section – so essentially you can view the whole portfolio effortlessly – nice touch. Some really great work in there too…

Red Interactive Agency

By | @REDinteractive, WEBSITES | No Comments

Portfolio site of Red Interactive Agency. Loads of really cool transitions and animations – using a grid based layout to highlight key projects, news, awards etc, clicking one flips it around and makes the whole background fade back and the project come forward. Love the transitions between sections and the attention to detail as different sections of the page animate in. Really modern site, with progressive enhancement – most of the animations work on iPad, mobile and so on, pretty cool…

Evoke Sunglasses

By | WEBSITES | No Comments

Interactive musical experiment site promoting Evoke’s Zegon Sunglasses. A large sequencer plays samples, you interact by clicking and dragging shapes – sadly the site is quite hard to navigate / understand. However, there are lots of cool animations and interesting transitions – click to drag through images of specific frames – images zoom out and react to mouse position. Nice layout and minimal design, pretty cool.

Type / Code

By | WEBSITES | No Comments

Portfolio site of Type / Code, NY based digital agency. Nice splash screen, 3d reactive particles! Projects displayed as one long list of accordions, revealing the contents on page, with the section splitting and moving down. Like the transitions between the main sections, very simple layout – nice example of a clear, clean well crafted site.

Consumer Barometer

By | WEBSITES | No Comments

For something as dry as Consumer statistics – this site does a fantastic job. You can browse popular statistics such as % of people per country with access to internet, to creating your own graphs and diagrams via an intuitive interface – all internet stats. I love the subtle animations and interactivity – bouncing spheres, animated transitions – really brings it all alive. It looks good too with a subtle colour palette and clear layout.

When was the last time you did something for the first time?

By | WEBSITES | No Comments

Simple campaign site for Eastpak bags. Posing the question ‘when was the last time you did something for the first time?’ and offering suggestions, playing full size video and small interactive experiences like Google street view to explore a mythical place and so on. After a couple of questions the you are prompted to enter a suggestion to go on their ‘experience wall’. Every time you visit the site you get a new set of videos and questions. Nice transitions, design  and a bit of simple fun.

DuJour

By | WEBSITES | No Comments

Brilliant site for DuJour magazine, a minimal fashion spread. Great use of typography and photography – a real attempt to get that magazine feel on a site – each article has an overview as you scroll down, allowing you to quickly see the photos and read a snippet – when you explore an article the item spreads out to reveal more content. Love the sticky side navigation so it is always accessible – contents and main nav, contents is really useful for such a long site. Works well on tablet too, really modern fresh site which looks and acts great.

Milwaukee Police

By | WEBSITES | No Comments

No it’s not a film site or a teaser for a new video game – this is the site of Milwaukee Police News. Another vertical parallax scroller but again a really nice one – incredible to think that this is a site for a government agency – how did they achieve something that is not another bureaucratic legacy design. Love the different layers of depth when you scroll to another section and then the side swiping to reveal more content at that level. It’s the kind of content that people can relate to – statistics about what their local police force is achieving to the most wanted criminals, to basic FAQs such as ‘how do I pay my parking ticket’? Really modern take on a Police website.

ALB – Golden Chains

By | WEBSITES | No Comments

Fun interactive music video for ALB and the track ‘Golden Chains’. Love the idea here – young upcoming artist selling items from the video on eBay and so on – as the video progresses he pushes and throws his belongings out of the video screen and they end up as other windows. Small bits of fun for example at one stage he throws his NES gun which starts a mini version of duck hunt – shoot the ducks to resume the video! All great fun…
