Lasse Pedersen

lasse pedersen

One of the nicest portfolio sites i’ve seen for a while, this time for hair and makeup artist Lasse Pedersen. Highly polished, using full screen imagery to really convey his work. Love the way you can navigate the images, and clicking the images brings them to fullscreen enabling you to pan around – animates really nicely. Even the rollover effect on the thumbnails is great, you rollover and you can then pan around the image, fantastic attention to detail, great work…

bleed

Website of Norwegian design consultancy Bleed. Pretty cool website, all the things you would expect from a polished agency portfolio – but with a bit more attitude, love all the rollover effects and the clean simple animation style. They showcase their work in a really clean elegant way.

Find Your Tracks

By | WEBSITES | No Comments

find your tracks

Site allowing you to find music to go along with your production. A very very simple site but very well structured, slick and easy to use, essentially you select tags for the type of music you are looking for and mix match them to get music matching your selection – which you can then download. Lots of cool animation and slick rollovers and usual it looks very much like a Soleil Noir production, slick and simple.

The Sound of RockCorps

By | WEBSITES | No Comments

The Sound of RockCorps

Interesting site from Orange, which allows you to create remixes of popular songs using your own voice and also encourages collaboration with your friends. Inviting you to record various sounds for different notes, you can also connect through Facebook and invite contacts to also record different notes. It then works by playing these notes in a sequence to a pre defined pattern to make songs, so far only a couple are there. A really funny idea, in the end encouraging you to join the Orange RockCorps collective to do community charity work. The site also looks great, with nice 3d transitions, great look and feel,  lots of detail and also highly polished!

house of orange

House of Orange – Model agency / hair, makeup, and styling agency / photography agency. Nice, simple and effective portfolio of their talent. Really like the way the images build up in different sizes and with a random selection shown each time. Cool transitions with contrast burns and so on.

Portfolio of Norweigan photographer Thomas Brun. Standard but well considered, simple portfolio site with nice animations and the functionality you come to expect from such sites – zoom in, fullscreen and so on. Nicely designed with several clever touches, straight to the point.

The Puma Index

By | WEBSITES | No Comments

puma index

The Puma Index, very simple and fun, promoting Puma’s body wear. Linked to the stock exchanges, DOW for USA, DAX for Germany, and ASX for Australia, with each market a different male or female model. The premise is when the stock market goes down the models on show more of the Puma body wear, i.e. they take more clothes off. When the stock market is doing well they wear winter clothes and so on. Really fun and simple, with lots of clever touches, for example, the videos loop and occasionally crop to give the impression there is a lot more footage. They have managed to keep the design so clean and simple, love the touches on the icons and buttons. Overall a really nice site, very clever and nice way to see a range of Puma products, with loads of options to embed, download iPhone app, and so on.

Martin-Anderle

Portfolio of interactive designer / developer Martin Anderle. Pretty simple, with some nice touches and animation – I like the particles moving around the screen – they form colour and shape on rollover of the individual project thumbnails. It looks great and provides a fantastic moving montage of colour and shape.

Adidas Y-3 F/W 2009

adidas y3 fw2009

Promotional site of Adidas’ Y3 Fall/Winter collection 2009. Styled in the form of satellite imagery, you can browse the various styles from a top down perspective, clicking on one gives you a video of the style rotating 360 degress. With highlights from the ‘look’ being displayed – also allowing you to zoom in and so on. Love the style and the transitions – heavily pixellated sometimes with distortion, nicely done. Lots of cool transitions and the usual flair from Adidas / Sid Lee.

Marija Ivkovic

maria ivkovic

Portfolio site of photographer Marija Ivkovic. Created in quite a unique way – you navigate the photos by rolling over the various strips of grey, each representing a project. The longer the strip the more images in that project – when rolled over the contents are revealed, by simply leaving your mouse towards the bottom you navigate through the sets, there is a zoom function also. Nicely animated with some great photos in there – pretty cool stuff.

Emilie Simon

emilie simon

A set of interactive music videos for French singer Emilie Simon. Very similar to the Arcade Fire interactive video which was also shot by the same director – Vincent Morriset. Each video has some simple interactivity which changes your experience of the music video, for example, in the Rocket to the Moon video you can change the playback of the video by clicking on the clock in the video, in the Chinatown video by clicking around coloured smoke goes in the direction of your cursor.

Brightdancing

Pretty interesting site promoting the sponsorship of X Factor & TalkTalk – a phone/broadband company, in the UK. Using the idea of light drawing/graffiti this site invites the audience to record their own light drawing via webcam and save to the site. The best clips will be shown during the commercial breaks of X Factor. It’s a pretty cool concept – the nice part is the website which enables all of this. Nicely designed with a pretty cool interface – it’s nice to just watch the videos on the site as they all refresh automatically so it’s fun enough just to sit back and watch some roll by.

Silenzio

silenzio

Interesting portfolio of French movie poster studio and marketing agency Silenzio. What makes this so accomplished is the animation and the 3d thumbnails of the posters, visually it is attractive and the animation really brings it to life. Nicely structured the posters can also be organised by alphabetical order, or explored through a 3d wall. Very cool…

Filippa K – What Inspires you?

By | WEBSITES | No Comments

Filippa K what Inspires you

Site of the Fall Winter 2009 collection of Filippa K. Posing the question ‘What inspires you?’, and offering a floating sea of tags, once you click a tag a series of photographs are arranged highlighting the range with some hotspots appearing. In each of the hotspots certain aspects are displayed, i.e. the item, or videos showing the ocean and so on. It is good to see a site showing a personality and a considered style when presenting the range and indeed the label, interesting way of navigating too.
