Grimm Gallun Holtappels

By | WEBSITES | No Comments

Website of Grimm Gallun Holtappels, German agency. Combining real environment and 3d interactive objects this site really comes alive. Travelling through what looks like an office, thumbnails of their projects can be dragged along through the space and expanded to find out more. By clicking on the coloured boxes you can explore lots of different areas, the zoom function is really cool as well. I love the motion tracking of the 3d objects and the faux camera / POV movement. The animation is super smooth, with an amazing level of detail and timing. It looks great also, with every button and feature well considered and designed. Love it!

Guy Vernes

By | WEBSITES | No Comments

Website of Dutch apparel brand Guy Vernes. Nice and simple slideshow of lifestyle photography twinned with a product section where you can buy what you see. Love the slight movement on the images and the use of icons, the online shop is integrated really well linking to the product you see in the photo. Really nicely developed, slick and fun to use – pretty smart website for a small label.

Website of photographer David Maupilé. Based around a long sheet of folded paper in 3D, with each photograph folded – when clicked camera zooms in and displays photo bigger. Very clean and minimal with a nice navigational interface, well made and looks great! Very cool…

Portfolio of photographer Uli Heckmann. Unique photoshop inspired portfolio, featuring the mask tool everywhere! I love the way the alphabet is used as thumbnails for the photographs – filling once you have seen that picture. Nice transitions and interactivity, very cool.

Toyota Prius

By | WEBSITES | No Comments

Website for the Toyota Prius for the Russian market. Really nice motion graphics and videos to introduce features of the car – followed by nicely designed info screens highlighting the specifics. Loads of really cool animations and a massive attention to detail – really like the way the car appears in the info screens and the sleek well considered design. Sound design is also great, all in all a pleasure to use and a very informative, fun consumer site.

Cristian Girotto

Portfolio of retoucher Cristian Girotto. Clean and simple, and really well made. WHen you click on a photo it shows the original version, click again to show the retouched version – simple and works really well. Love the zoom function too. It’s really interesting to see the difference between the original and the retouched version, to see the amount of work that went into it. The thumbnail menu at the top also is great. Fantastic portfolio site.

Momkai

Portfolio of Amsterdam based digital agency Momkai. Very simple layout that works really nicely, they also show a vast amount of work, which you can choose to see if you wish – so it’s not presented in an intrusive way. Many little touches and cool animations that complete the whole package.

Skoda Yeti

By | WEBSITES | No Comments

Simple, fun, and engaging site for the new Skoda Yeti. Incredibly simple idea, the car drives through a series of videos in various environments – cities, countryside, beaches, and so on. This all gives the impression of the car driving through one seamless scene – where the car is always centred in the screen, occasionally it stops to highlight some product info – where you can also find out more if you want. The beauty, for me, is in its simplicity – and the fact it is just fun! The way the videos work is great and overall it feels quite polished and all well thought out. Love it!

Tony D’Orio

By | WEBSITES | No Comments

Slick portfolio of photographer Tony D’Orio. Focussed around his gallery of photos shown by thumbnails, that when clicked all slide over to reveal a larger version. Lots of nice features, I love the thumbnails – the way they work when the screen is resized, the rollovers. Even the way with the larger pictures either appear left or right of the screen. The whole site is well considered and well produced, a really nice portfolio site.

100 To Watch

By | WEBSITES | No Comments

Site showcasing 100 artists, designers, writers and so on all from Romania, to highlight Romania’s cultural conribution to the world. Interesting strip based layout when clicked reveals that artist’s section, which you can then click and drag to navigate. I like the exploratory approach to the layout and the clean simple style of navigation.

Kenneth Elgaard

By | WEBSITES | No Comments

Portfolio of Danish artist Kenneth Elgaard. Clean and minimal, drag based interactivity – set around a cube with each side a different section of the site. What I like is the way you navigate the portfolio, by dragging along you view the work, and by dragging up and down you zoom in and out. All makes for a fluid, easy to use experience.
