Site promoting the new TV series about ‘Carlos’ a terrorist. Follow the trail of Carlos throughout the world and see where key events happened. Really slick site with incredible execution throughout. Love the 3d globe, clicking zooms in to various locations, similar to Google Earth, to give a montage of material about the event with press clippings, video clips, and so on. The montage itself is nicely laid out and you can pan your view around to reveal more items giving each location a back story. The level of detail is quite incredible, with seamless transitions from the 3d globe to the end scene, well designed, amazing animation and polish, really great work…

Nespresso Tanzaru

Site of Nespresso’s newest flavour ‘Tanzaru’. Essentially an interactive musical slideshow – really interesting style, with parallax scrolling and depth of field, giving a feeling of the kind of flavours and influences the coffee has. When rolling over the various items in the scene they play different sounds – so along with the background music a fun interactive composition is created. Really nice visual style and great animations and interactivity, very cool.

Website of the A/W Collection of Brazilian label of Santa Lolla. Slick animation provides the basis of this site, fast smooth transitions reveal the collection. Using a slideshow function you can sit back and watch, moving the mouse around scrolls the image, a little ‘sand timer’ displaying when the next image will appear is a touch. The thumbnail menu also works really nicely along with the main image, you scroll by mving your mouse up and down. Lots of attention to detail and cool transitions, nicely polished.

Interesting site for ‘The Digital Invaders’, from what I can tell it is offering courses in Flash, design, and so on from the great digital agency Grupo W, all sounds a lot like the Swedish Hyper Island. Set in a large scrollable canvas with amazing animation and drawings explaining what they offer. Loads of detail and animation, really polished and a lot of fun.

Interesting site trying to change our perception and attitude towards cancer. Encouraging the fight against cancer you can post images, text, and so on. Website of Grimm Gallun Holtappels, German agency. Combining real environment and 3d interactive objects this site really comes alive. Travelling through what looks like an office, thumbnails of their projects can be dragged along through the space and expanded to find out more. By clicking on the coloured boxes you can explore lots of different areas, the zoom function is really cool as well. I love the motion tracking of the 3d objects and the faux camera / POV movement. The animation is super smooth, with an amazing level of detail and timing. It looks great also, with every button and feature well considered and designed. Love it!

If I can Dream

If I can Dream – website documenting the stories of 5 young people chasing their dreams in Hollywood. Set in a Big Brother esque house with cameras everywhere – as the viewer you can go to several of the rooms and choose a camera and be a voyeur. Set within a 3d navigation and with a really nice interface design, you navigate to different areas within a fluid 3d box. One of nicest and smoothest uses of 3D I have ever seen, the 3d doesn’t get in the way of anything and just adds to the whole experience. Loads of attention to detail, I love all the little rollovers and icons, the 3d transitions are amazing. Great design, very complicated build, slick animation, all in all a fantastic looking and very impressive website.

Black Sunshine

Interesting concept for a new coffee bean brand ‘Black Sunshine’. Based from a FPS perspective you go underground the meet a ‘drug’ dealer, look at the product, and order online your favourite morning ‘drug’. All shot from your perspective looking around the shady underground dealings of ‘the dealer’. Love the perspective panning with the video, they make it a little bigger than the screen so you can slightly pan around to see the scene – brings a really in depth feeling. Love the art direction and the how the buttons float around following your view. They have made these coffee beans very desirable by just making it very cool and very funny…

Website of Dutch apparel brand Guy Vernes. Nice and simple slideshow of lifestyle photography twinned with a product section where you can buy what you see. Love the slight movement on the images and the use of icons, the online shop is integrated really well linking to the product you see in the photo. Really nicely developed, slick and fun to use – pretty smart website for a small label.
