Site of New Zealand based Ben Pearce, sculptor and artist. Love the minimal approach with splashes of personality and large imagery. Love the ‘my story’ page with the lines that trigger rollover states, lots of fun details dotted amongst the site, but still remaining easy to traverse and enjoy.

Site that generates a never ending film composed of live web camera footage, the soundtrack is also found footage. Really interesting idea – it strikes an interesting note about security and privacy in this modern age. Like the way it mixes video and sounds in an algorithmic way so no two viewings are the same.

A digital art piece that in their own words “Through a chat-bot, contents are imported in realtime by a custom AI censoring algorithm, displaying itself in an infinte loop of hyper-medial elements. Visitors will experience the flow changes in realtime, exploring contents and features of this new media.” The end result is a 3D stream of modified visuals floating in space. Interesting experimentation with the concept of censorship.

Site for Tank magazine, UK independant quarterly on contemporary culture, design, art and so on. Love the 3D panels showing the latest issues content outline – some interesting interaction, where the entire paragraph splits and reveals imagery. Minimal design makes a nice juxtaposition with the content and imagery from the magazine.

Nice dive into some of the Polish arts, lovingly titled ‘A foreigners guide to’. Several interactive guides take you through the history of Polish cinema, photography and electronic music. Using a mixture of bold type, vibrant hints of colour and b&w photography to bring stories to life. There is a lot of polish and detail throughout, many transitions and animations to bring the content alive – love the mix of interactive moments such as timelines and so on – you can tell it has been a real labour of love.

Interesting project to 3D print a new Rembrandt painting from special software written to recognize and read a vast library of his paintings. The website itself takes you on a scrolling journey through how they tackled it, with sliding panels bringing in more info. So many nice details, from the animation and transitions to the lovely design. Thoughtful UI and interaction, brought to life with great imagery and short videos.

Lovely site celebrating 100 years of the Dada movement. Love the singular large canvas type execution, with multiple layers, imagery, and type – when navigation you scroll your viewport to another part of the canvas. There is a lot of depth to the site, from bizarre interactive games pairing up with your phone through to explorative profiles on artists and history. Beautifully executed and a lot of fun to explore.

The next installation of interactive art piece VOID. A cube with rooms to explore in 3D space, each room with it’s own interactive element, from music sequencing, to ripple pools – music and sound plays a large part of the experience. Love the detail and mood – from the design through to the audio design – the exploratory/surreal feel is drenched in atmosphere. Great to see work like this.

Lovely type treatment and nice bold imagery, love the 360 video which really dives you into the experience. One of the things I love about it is how nicely it works on mobile, with an option to use your gyro or swipe to scan around the environment. Nice work.

Lovely site commissioned by the V&A in England. Featuring a series of CCTV footage overlooking London’s landmarks and its inhabitants. The interface allows you to tag and track people and objects, which is a lot of fun. Love the playful nature of the site, and sheer delight in losing time watching events and people traverse the capital.
