Nice creative personal project from creative and developer duo. Using a barrage of 3D effects the site uses Google Maps Streetview to place you in an urban desert complete with volumetric sand, lighting, trees, and audio. Nice little backstory to the project and beautifully crafted the interface, menus, animations and interactions all enhance this cool project. Really pushes the boundaries of what is possible with browser based 3D.

Lovely bit of work, highlighting the plight of 30 of the world’s most threatened animals. Nice project educating the world about these amazing animals – love the look and feel, the polygonal creatures morphing from one to another. Attention to detail is great, the animals subtly animate, so does the typeface! Pleasure to use and love the way each scene changes to the next – and on top of all of this it also works on mobile/tablet really well. Great to see more of this kind of work out there.

3D configurator for Penny Skateboards. Amazingly detailed customising experience to create your own skateboard. One of the key features of the site is the fact it works amazingly well on mobile devices, fantastically smooth and love the way when you customise different parts of the board your view zooms and pans around. Really well thought out interactions and fun to play around with.

Fascinating site that uses peoples 3D data as a landscape to interact with. All executed through an experimental 3D interface where you pan and rotate your view. Feeling akin to something out of Blade Runner – the music the design – it is all an assault on the senses. The 3D bodies are moving around as you interact with the scene and you can play races that float across the moving 3D contours of the bodies. Love the 3D elements and the experimental look and feel, really cool to see digital experiences like this. Quite an experience…

Fascinating interactive documentary about the ISEE-3 satellite that has been in orbit since 1978. Featuring a mixture of 3d elements, film, and photography it’s a really nice approach to show the orbit and history of the satellite. There is also a live view, where you can see estimates of where the satellite is today – all shown in 3d. Love the timeline approach and the fascinating way of representing the orbit of the satellite, where it has been all in a 3d model that you can explore – nice mix of media to explain the satellite and it’s history.

Lovely site promoting Kenzo’s Fall 2014 range – aiming to replicate a gallery experience from the browser and in 3D! You can connect your mobile device to use it as a trackpad to navigate the 3D gallery or use your mouse to move around the space. On the walls of the galleries are video pieces and images which you can peruse at your leisure. The exploratory nature of the interface is crafted well, and looks great, nice clean lines and moody lighting – I love that you exit through the shop where you can see the items from the gallery!

Really cool site – a collaboration between french agency Ultranoir and illustrator and artist McBess. A 3d gramophone allows you to grab the needle and crank up the motor – and dive into the music in a dark 3d world. Love all the 3d interactions, such as rotating your view, placing the needle on the record, opening the side panel and playing a piano along to the music. And the sound design is fantastic – rotate your view away from the speaker on the gramophone and the music sounds muffled. It looks amazing too, the stark black world sprinkled with white – really great work.

Interesting idea – to take the an Ibis Hotel bed to the summit of ‘Devil’s Mountain’ for the ultimate night’s sleep. Following a format of a travel / expedition short film – with an interactive timeline, extras and a really cool 3d map. It is a surprisingly sophisticated interactive experience considering the client and subject matter – with loads of transitions / sliding panels / and cool animations. A fantastic example of a modern, sophisticated interactive film.

Hi-res photos have been taken of the walls and mapped onto 3d models of the interior, the site allows you to walk around and your mouse to change your view with the keyboard controlling where you walk. There are featured famous graffiti artists with small hotspots indicating where they are. Nice attention to detail in the 3d scenes, with light streams, and dust particles and so on. You can jump around and explore using the map, and even paint on the walls in an editor type mode. Very detailed and fun to explore.
