Site documenting Japanese style, art, culture and design. Wrapped in a fun minimal site with small moments of playfulness. Love the header that pops out, and collapses as you navigate the site, and the cool rollovers where the image inside the mask grows but mask shrinks. Fun scroll based animations and light white space layout lets the content shine.

Site of Italian photographer Anna Morosini. Nicely crafted portfolio divided by category of work, love the offset grid and minimal layout reliant on slivers of imagery which expand with interaction. Love the whitespace and feeling of calm the layout offers, nice transitions between imagery. Some interesting interaction models dotted throughout, love the scroll to close image in the portrait section.

Love all the small transitions and interactivity, on the homepage love the way the year marker scrolls down around the project tiles over time. Project pages look lovely, and have a sense of energy and emotion with lots of small details love the preloader too – that just reveals the logo. Loads of fun micro interactions and great type, layout and design.

Site documenting various people who live in Tokyo, their lives, and their tips & recommendations for the city. In their own words “a community driven initiative that seeks to establish the modern Tokyojin. We aim to authentically and organically capture, document, and communicate Tokyo’s unique urban culture through the insight and experience of the very people that shape it while redefining what it means to call Tokyo home.” Interesting form of storytelling through in depth journeys. Lovely photography and design, love the blend of inline video and sprinkles of Google Maps that bring the stories to life. Nice transitions and art direction tie it all together to create a compelling experience.

Site for French based photography studio Chevojon. Slick and simple, scroll through the photos – love that mask reveal transition – nice use of type too. I also like the menu, in that it opens up into a sideways scroll page that reveals a bit of information about the studio and other pieces that you might want. Project page is great too, with lots of lovely transitions and animations provide a nice smooth and premium feel and elevate the photography.

Awesome folio of photographer Matt Irwin, sadly he has passed away but Yes Studio wanted to launch his lovely body of work. Love the absolute simplicity of the experience, click to proceed to the next image in a constant cycle. His work reveals such personality not only of the subject but the character of the photographer himself – curiosity and playful. Small subtle details such as the about section, and the navigation changing accent colours is a nice touch. Lovely, elegant site that hones in on the absolute simplicity of showing great photos.

Lovely photography site with the interesting idea of having two photographers shooting at the same time over 12 hours in two different places in the world. The results are wrapped up in a beautifully designed and executed site full of nice details. At it’s heart is beautiful photography – love the dynamic time stamp and the juxtaposition of the photos – love the slices which transition into one another. All so elegant and simple, and these small interactions are what really brings it to life.

2015 saw a ‘leap second’ – everyone on earth had an extra second to play with. Android asked people to capture those moments and share with the world. The site itself is really well executed, with a great visual interface that captures the moments and themes of the submissions – with a larger video which combines all these moments into one clip. Love the 3D on this too, from the way the images enlarge and the lovely drag around interface – really works great on mobile too! Full of details and incredibly polished.

Site for Topsafe London, agency that helps connects brands to culture. Site features bold typography, and large photography, love the tiles – some animated and nice hints of colour. The feature pages are more like a magazine, with large pages that scroll into view and lock, like pages in a magazine. Large sliding menu is a nice touch.
